Although some manufacturers make high chairs to accommodate infants, they do not become necessary until the child is 5 to 6 months old, when he or she can sit up and is no longer on a liquid diet. There are many different features available on today’s modern high chair including wheels, height adjustments, adjustable foot rests, high chairs that convert to a play table, high chairs that fold up compactly for storage and extra large feeding trays. However, the most important feature to look for in a high chair is abroad stable base to reduce the possibility of tipping over. Some parents prefer traditional wooden high chairs which often look nice but are expensive, uncomfortable for your baby and do not clean up as easily as the plastic variety.
Bsby High Chair Reviews
Peg Perego Prima Pappa
You will see the Peg Perego name often in our product reviews because the manufacturer makes a line of high quality products which are worthy of consideration. However, you will have to pay for this quality, as they tend to be a little pricier than other brands. It is often well worth the extra expense however, for a product that will last, especially if you plan to have more than one child.
One major advantage of the Prima Pappa is that it folds up for storage, a feature that is not found in most other high chairs. Additionally, the Prima Pappa features seven height adjustments, four recline positions, a one-handed tray release that works very smoothly, wheels, and a large tray. The only problems we’ve heard from consumers about the Prima Pappa is that the seat may wear down over time and is difficult to clean. The Prima Pappa comes in a variety of fabrics so use your best judgmentwhen making your selection.
Prima Pappa high chair offers a unique rocking base that lets you soothe baby in the comfortable reclining seat. The height-adjustable base also has locking caster wheels for portability. The sleek Italian design will appeal to style-conscious parents looking for a high chair that blends with home decor. The Dondolino model features music and automatic rocking, but excludes the removable top tray found on other models. Priced from $160-$200.
Fisher Price Healthy Care High Chair
Parents love this seat because it offers all of the bells and whistles without the hefty price tag. It has three reclining seat positions so you can use it even before baby is sitting up. It also offers seven height adjustments, a five point harness, removable and machine-washable vinyl padding, towel bar in back, and it even folds for storage. The vinyl cover wipes down easily and can be machine-washed if necessary. Unique to this highchair is a removable dishwasher safe dinner tray (making clean up a breeze), and a handy dishwasher-safe side container to hold jars or cups. The high chair frame is sturdy, can be adjusted to several heights and folds for storage. If that’s not enough, the seat also converts to a booster. This seat is a real winner at a price that mom and dad will love!
Graco Easy Chair
At under $50, the Graco Easy Chair is one of the best but very basic high chair without all of the extras of the other two models, but it does the job. Lightweight and easy to move around and assembling this chair is almost as simple as the day to day operation. The tray snaps on easily and it is a two hand release to remove it. The tray is very large so less food makes it to the floor and the entire chair is very light. The seat reclines for naps and a bar on the high chair’s back keeps washcloths or bibs at the ready. The lower parent “helper” tray is handy for keeping food out of baby’s reach during spoon feeding. One of the things we liked best about this highchair is how easy it is to clean up. The padding wipes down easy and is a breeze to remove and clean below the cushion. We have found that with many of the higher end models the padding is much more difficult to remove and clean. A small toy bar on the tray gives baby something to play with while waiting for dinner. On the downside there is no height adjustment and the seatbelt is a little flimsy. A great buy for a basic chair if you’re not looking for all the features.
Baby Trend Trend High Chair
The Trend high chair is a great choice if you’re short on space or need to store your baby’s high chair. For a full-size high chair, the Trend high chair folds amazingly flat for storage. This high chair still has all of the extras, including two trays, reclining seat and easy height adjustment. The t-bar and five-point harness ensures safety. The tray storage spot on the back is really handy between feedings. The reversible seat cushion is also machine washable. Priced at $80-$90
Zooper Peas and Carrots

Chicco Mamma
The Chicco Mamma high chair is really easy to operate, whether you have a baby in your arms or not. The one-hand tray release works smoothly, as do the recline and height-adjust features and locking wheels. This high chair folds almost effortlessly with the press of two buttons, and stands upright for storage. The seat cushion has thick, durable vinyl that will stand up to any meal. The cushion can be wiped clean easily, but is removable for more in-depth cleaning. Price ranges from $110-$160
Cosco Eddie Bauer Natural Wood High Chair
The attractive, sturdy wooden frame of the Eddie Bauer high chair reminds old-fashioned wood high chairs, but Cosco has added modern features that make this high chair a great blend of old and new. The plastic tray has a one-hand release, and the padded cover can be removed for machine washing. The rear storage shelf is a convenient place to stash extra bibs or supplies for clean up. The harness is only 3-point, but the chair does have a t-bar for added safety. Price – about $100
